The Maternal Health Task Force (MHTF) believes that a strong, well-informed and integrated community with equitable access to high-quality technical evidence is critical to our goal of eliminating preventable maternal mortality and morbidity worldwide. To that end we:

  •  Ensure that maternal health practitioners, policy makers, researchers and advocates around the world have access to the most current and reliable evidence and information.
  • Identify and create opportunities for the global maternal health community to develop consensus on critical needs, priorities and actions.
  • Generate new evidence through targeted research addressing emerging or neglected areas within maternal health.
  • Train and mentor the next generation of maternal health leaders.

Ongoing support for the MHTF comes from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the Hansen Family Foundation and private donors.

From 2008 to 2011, the MHTF was based at EngenderHealth. Read more about our Phase I work.
