The MHTF and the maternal health community lost a friend and champion with the death of Beth Peterman on June 24th. Beth joined the Global Health team at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000. As a Program Officer there, she was closely involved in the creation of the Maternal Health Task Force, from the stage when it was just the seed of an idea through the awarding of the grant that has made it a reality. Beth was a generous and helpful colleague whose enthusiasm and wise counsel will be greatly missed. I will think of her often as we carry out our collective work on improving maternal health.
