United States Government Policy Trends for Global Public Health

Posted on

Late last week our friend and colleague Laurie Garrett, Senior Fellow for Global Health at the Council on Foreign Relations released this response to a request from Capitol Hill staffers. Laurie and her team have gathered and analyzed a great deal of data showing the causes and consequences of reduced US overseas development assistance for global health.  It’s an incisive portrait of a timely debate, which we believe will have significant impact on maternal and neonatal health challenges. The policies and funding that the Obama administration and the US Congress decide to make amid ongoing uncertainties in the global economy are likely to have a domino effect on ODA worldwide.  Let’s all stay tuned and stay engaged in these conversations.
