More info about the event from PATH:
Becoming a mom is usually a special, joyous event. But for many women in developing countries, childbirth can be life-threatening.
Imagine a woman in labor arriving at a clinic, minutes away from delivering her baby only to find that the basic medical equipment, medicines, and health staff aren’t there.
Sadly, a woman dies every two minutes from pregnancy-related complications around the world. Access to essential maternal health supplies, including medicines, contraceptives, and simple equipment used during childbirth, is often a hidden part of the solution.
Please join PATH for a photo exhibit and reception following the United Nations General Assembly to highlight the specific ways that low-cost medicines and other supplies transform maternal health. Ripple Effect will feature photographs of the women affected by this issue and the stories of partner organizations working to ensure that no woman dies giving life.
Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served.
