On November 10, as the WHO convenes the Global Forum on Human Resources for Health in Recife, Brazil, The Africa Network for Associate Clinicians, New York University and Columbia University are hosting a side event focused on the role of Associate Clinicians, health workers who play a variety of roles in delivering health services around the world – including as providers of maternal health services. The workshop will draw together a diverse group, including health policymakers, providers, and funding partners others to discuss issues surrounding the influence of different policy and regulatory environments, as well as training, policy implementation and the role of professional networks. Within this broader discussion, the session will highlight the experience of countries that have implemented task-shifting policies to deploy non-physician clinicians to deliver emergency obstetric care, such as cesarean sections.
The event will be held on November 10 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Atlante Plaza Hotel on Av. Boa Viagem in Recife.
