Maternal Health and HIV: Global Priorities for Research and Action – at the Wilson Center January 13

With HIV contributing to one- quarter of maternal deaths in sub-Saharan Africa, there is a critical need ensure that both health systems and social dynamics shape quality and use of HIV and maternal health care services. Next Monday, January 13, the Wilson Center is hosting Maternal Health and HIV: Global Priorities for Research an Action, an afternoon of panel discussions on the critical intersection of maternal health and HIV and AIDS, with the goal of fostering collaboration among specialists in both areas. The event will feature speakers representing a range of perspectives and expertise in both the field of maternal health and HIV, and will include representatives of prominent research and policy institutions, including the MHTF. The two panel discussions will address major questions and challenges under two themes:

  • 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm: Creating a Comprehensive Research and Evaluation Agenda for Maternal Health and HIV in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Addressing HIV Stigma and Preventing Disrespect and Abuse: Global Insights to Improve Maternal Health and Promote Reproductive Rights
