Next week, 47 participants representing 27 countries and a faculty of experts in maternal and newborn health from around the world will gather in Nairobi, Kenya for the third Safe Mothers and Newborns Leadership Workshop (SMNLW). The workshop, which was hosted in Barcelona in 2015 and Boston in 2016, is organized by the Maternal Health Task Force (MHTF) in partnership with The Aga Khan University and the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The goal of the workshop is to increase the capacity and leadership skills of current and emerging leaders in the field of reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health from high burden countries. With new technical knowledge, leadership skills and a global network of colleagues, the participants leave the workshop prepared to work more effectively on reducing preventable maternal and neonatal deaths in their home countries.
