Last week, we gathered in Boston to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Maternal Health Task Force reflecting on the amazing accomplishments within our community and charted a path for future directions in our efforts to end preventable maternal mortality. At the event, we also recognized ten incredibly special people as Maternal Health Visionaries; all people I encourage you to get to know and watch.
It has been a great honor to lead the Maternal Health Task Force throughout its first decade. I have learned so much from each of you and treasure the time that we have had together and the things we have been able to accomplish through our collective hard work and collaboration.
The Maternal Health Task Force and its online resources will now be managed by our colleagues at the Harvard Chan School Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health. The Harvard Chan School has a long history of leadership in maternal and child health and runs one of the preeminent training programs for public health professionals through the Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child health. I am deeply grateful to Professor Henning Tiemeier and Program Coordinator Bethany Kotlar for enthusiastically taking up the mantle and I look forward to engaging with you in the years to come.
Our work to improve maternal health is far from over. Let us continue to bring our best science, our best policies and our best effort to bear to achieve our goal of ending preventable maternal deaths and promote health for every woman, everywhere.
