Kayla McGowan joined the Women and Health Initiative in February 2016. As Project Coordinator, she writes and evaluates social media content and works on the knowledge management team in the Maternal Health Task Force. Kayla brings a background in health communication, interest in maternal and newborn health, and belief that well-designed messages can improve health behavior.
In addition to her interest in maternal, newborn, and child health, Kayla is passionate about nutrition, obesity prevention, and mental health and wellness. Prior to joining the Women and Health Initiative, Kayla was a project manager at BodiMojo, a mobile platform that teaches emotional intelligence, self-compassion, and health self-management skills to adolescents.
Kayla received a BA in Writing & Rhetoric and Spanish from the University of Rhode Island and MA in Health Communication from Emerson College, in collaboration with Tufts University School of Medicine.
