On November 20th, the Woodrow Wilson Center hosted a policy dialogue on addressing maternal health and gender-based violence in times of crisis. The MHTF’s guest speaker, John Welch, discussed maternal health care during the Ebola epidemic. For example, a pregnant woman with pre-eclampsia or eclampsia can easily be mistaken for an Ebola patient, and moved to an Ebola ward instead of receiving the care she needs.
