Health facilities worldwide are often unprepared for the complications that can arise in childbirth. The BetterBirth Program provides coaching and a birthing checklist that support better communication, preparation and birthing outcomes. The BetterBirth Program is being tested in a three-phase, randomized trial involving 172,000 births in 120 facilities in Uttar Pradesh, India. This northern state of India sees some of the world’s highest childbirth death rates.
