The Central Gender Office of Addis Ababa University was at first established as a Women’s Affairs Office in 2008. The Office was later renamed as a Gender Office given its expanded duties towards working on enhancing and supporting gender equality. Located at the main campus of the university, the office operates centrally under the office of the President and oversees the gender offices at college levels. The central Gender Office of Addis Ababa University is responsible for sensitizing gender equality among the University community. It works to create an environment where no gender stereotype exists and where all females are fairly represented in all areas of the university’s businesses at all levels ofacademic units. Currently, the office is led by a directress and, has two senior experts and a messenger. The office has a direct working relationship with the gender offices at college levels.
