This session focused on the quality of care and uptake of services for maternal and newborn health with special interest in effective care for HIV services. The panel discussed issues surrounding not only the quality of care factors, but how to make sure implementation of programs were effective, how they should be implemented, what types of programs were successful in the past, and what are the future implications. These questions revolved around a study in Tanzania which asked, “Could the health system quality improvement strategy originally developed for HIV programs be adapted to improve the quality and uptake of MNH services?”
