Mary Mwanyika Sando moderated this panel discussion at the Integration of Maternal and Newborn Health Care technical meeting. This presentation provided an overview of the critical windows/opportunities where effectively integrated maternal and newborn health care during pregnancy, labor and delivery and the postpartum period can improve health outcomes. Rima Jolivet from the Maternal Health Task Force offered her perspectives on opportunities to optimize outcomes for both mother and baby during antenatal care and postnatal care, drawing on her experiences as a midwife and advocate. Jeff Smith from the Maternal and Child Survival Program and an OB/GYN discussed what integrated care could look like during labor and delivery.
