The Department of Reproductive Health and Research (RHR) seeks to ensure that people are empowered to lead healthy sexual and reproductive lives through making informed choices about their sexual and reproductive health. To these ends, RHR:
- Leads, directs and conducts research to identify sexual and reproductive health problems and to find evidence-based solutions to them
- Promotes the use of new knowledge to develop norms, guidelines, tools and interventions and develops mechanisms for their delivery and implementation
- Undertakes advocacy to promote and protect human rights and gender equality, as they relate to sexual and reproductive health
