Health Education and Empowerment Initiative (HEDEN) (formerly known as Eclipse Development Initiatives) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to providing a clean and safe birthing environment for women in hard-to reach communities in Nigeria to reduce the incidence of infant and maternal morbidity and mortality. Their focus is aligned to the Sustainable Development Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. Through their Sweet Mother Program (SMP) targeted at pregnant women and nursing mothers, HEDEN has made significant strides in increasing life expectancy and reducing some of the common killers associated with child and maternal mortality.
